DABOLIM: Dabolim Airport faced significant disruptions on Friday due to a global Microsoft outage, affecting check-in software used by Indigo and Air India Express airlines. The issue emerged around 10:10 AM, halting automated check-in processes and forcing airlines to revert to manual procedures.
The outage led to the cancellation of three Indigo outbound flights: 6E-589 to Chennai, 6E-281 to Ahmedabad, and 6E-985 to Hyderabad. Additionally, delays of one to one and a half hours impacted all remaining Indigo and Air India Express flights scheduled for the day.
Out of the 27 Indigo flights planned, the majority were delayed, causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers. Airline staff worked diligently to manage the situation, issuing manual boarding passes to ensure passengers could still board their flights, albeit delayed.
Sources said that the passengers expressed frustration over the cancellations and delays, but the airport authorities and airline staff emphasized that the disruptions were due to unforeseen technical issues beyond their control.
