PANAJI: After Siddiqui alias Suleiman Khan made comments to journalists that led to an investigation into the behavior of the police officers who were with him, the role of police officers has once again come under question.
Statements made by the accused, Siddiqui, to reporters during his presentation before the Panaji Court for an extension of his judicial custody have been cited in recent media stories. According to the authorities, these comments include unsubstantiated claims.
It is crucial to remember that his past and present cases are either under investigation or sub judice, even though the Old Goa Police are presently looking into every facet of his escape from legal custody, the police said.
“Some of his statements may be intended to dissuade witnesses from providing testimony to the police or the court,” according to a Goa Police officer.
“The mobile phone or phones belonging to the accused have been confiscated and taken to the Goa Forensic Science Laboratory for forensic analysis. Every film that was created, received, or sent from his cell phone has been subject to a forensic examination,” he continued.
To ascertain whether any protocol violations were made, police have requested a thorough investigation report from SDPO Panjim into the actions of the officers who were with Siddiqui.
