PANJIM: City Mayor Uday Madkaikar on Wednesday said that a special SoP for citizens will be released by August first week for celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi Festival in the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) jurisdiction.
“This year the situation is very difficult and different from last year. The people used to celebrate this festival with much joy across the city then be it in their homes or community. But this time due to Covid, we will have to come up with certain norms so that all precautions such as social distancing and wearing of masks are followed.” Mayor Madkaikar said
Madkaikar said that the SoP will be released in first week of August in consultation with major stakeholders within the city.
“By first week of August the SoP’s will be finalized after conducting a meeting with traffic police, police, are ward representatives and other stakeholders.”
The Mayor also informed that the CCP was looking to impart a particular time during immersion so that that there is no rush or traffic problems.
“One of the things which we are looking is that only two people from each house will be allowed during immersion of Ganesh across city limits. No crowd unlike last year will be allowed.” He added
