PANAJI: The U-15 Women’s Football Tournament has reached its climax, with St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda, and Perpetual Succour Convent, Navelim, securing their spots in the final match. The semifinals were marked by intense competition, as St. Anne’s edged out Fatima Convent via a nail-biting tiebreaker, while Perpetual Succour defeated Rosary HS Navelim in a closely contested match. The stage is now set for the final showdown between these two formidable teams on Sunday, February 23rd, at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim.
In the semifinals, St. Anne’s Institute showcased their resilience by defeating Fatima Convent 2-1 in a tiebreaker. Gwyneth Fernandes and Aaisha Naik Gauncar were the heroes for St. Anne’s, scoring crucial goals in the tiebreaker, while Shailaika Rodrigues managed to find the net for Fatima Convent. Aaisha Naik Gauncar’s impressive performance earned her the Man of the Match award. Meanwhile, Perpetual Succour Convent demonstrated their strength by beating Rosary HS Navelim 2-1, with Sensia Fernandes scoring twice to secure their victory. The final match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams vying for the championship title at 4:30 PM on Sunday.
