MAPUSA: The Bardez Deputy Collector today granted five days to the management of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, to finalize the date for conducting the installation ceremony of the newly elected student council.
The college has been asked to decide on the date before January 30.
The Bardez Deputy Collector today held a meeting with the student Council and College Management to decide on the protest that took place on the college premise on Saturday, January 21.
The Deputy collector instructed the college management to finalise the date of the induction program anywhere between 24th Jan to January 28.
The college is asked to hold an induction ceremony between January 30 to February 4.
The students said that the college principal had not held the formal installation of the elected student council members of the institute for over two months now and had even refused to as much as accept a formal letter from the students in this regard.
The ABVP general secretary-elect for St Xavier’s College, Sahil Mahajan, said that not installing the student council had restricted student activities.
“I was constantly trying to get a date finalized for the oath-taking ceremony of the elected students’ council body. We are unable to participate in any inter-collegiate event,” said Mahajan.
