CURCHOREM: The staff enhancement seminar for the staff of Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School was held in the Guardian Angel IHMCT Hall, Curchorem.
Fr. Edison Fernandes, Rector of the Don Bosco Training Institute, Benaulim was the keynote Speaker. While explaining the terms and conditions involved in invoking the POCSO Act, he enlightened the teachers on the sensitive issue of Sexual Exploitation of children up to the age of 18 years.
“The School responsibility in reporting matters of offence was deemed compulsory in the Act, failing which the non-reporting authority or staff could be put behind bars,” said Fr. Fernandes and provided written material to the teachers to help them implement a means of tracking nasty events occurring in the school and at home and thus tackling matters of assault and incest.
In the second half of the seminar, he had expertise in the field of psychology of human relations. And presented various theories, wherein problems of communication failure in relations could be identified. Later, he engaged the group in a Questions and Answers Session, where teachers asked various questions and clarified their doubts.
Sir Joaquim Fernandes spoke about the effective session that had been conducted and its benefit for the institution. The Manager Fr. Thomas Gonsalves presented a potted plant to the Speaker in the presence of Tr. Synthia Rebello. Ms Lidia Mascarenhas compared the function and welcomed the guests while Tr. Audry Fernandes proposed a vote of thanks.
