Steve Jobs’ Wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, Embraces Spiritual Journey at Maha Kumbh 2025 Despite Health Challenges
In the midst of the bustling Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, Laurene Powell Jobs, the wife of the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, has embarked on a profound spiritual journey, despite facing some health setbacks. After visiting the revered Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Powell Jobs arrived in Prayagraj on Monday to participate in the historic event, which occurs once every 144 years.
Powell Jobs, who has been given the Hindu name ‘Kamala’ by the Niranjani Akhara, is currently resting at the spiritual camp of Swami Kailashanand Giri due to some allergies. “She will participate in the ritual of taking a dip at the Sangam,” Swami Kailashanand Giri informed ANI. “She has never been to such a crowded place and is quite simple. She stayed with us during the pooja,” he added, highlighting her eagerness to immerse herself in the traditions.
The Maha Kumbh 2025, a rare celestial event, has drawn millions to the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mystical Saraswati rivers. On Tuesday, during the first Amrit Snan or sacred dip, an estimated 3-4 crore people will take a holy dip. The event involves sadhus from the 13 Akhadas of the Sanatan Dharma, divided into Shaivite, Vaishnav, and Udaseen groups.
Powell Jobs will stay at the Niranjani Akhara camp until January 15, before returning to the US to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20. Her participation in the Kalpavas rituals, which include daily holy river baths, meditation, mantra chanting, and reading scriptures, underscores the global appeal of India’s rich spiritual heritage.
The Maha Kumbh 2025, which is a Poorna Kumbh, will continue until February 26, with key ‘snan’ dates including January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
