PANJIM: Goencho Awaz on Sunday has strongly condemned the alleged atrocities against those opposing IIT project in Sattari.
“The shocking news of vengeance by the Health Minister and MLA of Valpoi Vishwajit Rane in transferring Government employees of his constituency in past few days especially a handicap Anganwadi worker from Sattari to Quepem is the most disgusting and inhuman action by this government.” Said Goencho Awaz Covenor Swapnesh Sherlekar
He said, “This revengeful act and pressure tactics on the part of the government on the villagers of Melavali for opposing the ill-conceived IIT in their village is a sign of the dark times that the people of Goa are going through. Such powers that be to bully the poor villagers into submission and instill fear deserves utmost condemnation from all quarters of the civilized society.”
Goencho Awaz further said that Rane has adamantly refused to consider the biodiversity, the agricultural fields, the cashew plantations, the Devasthans, and that too in NDZ area raises grave doubts about the real intentions and reasons behind setting up an IIT against the wishes of locals and by destroying an entire Eco System prevailing at the proposed site location.
“In these circumstances we demand that the CM has to either, demonstrate his competence by reversing all the transfer orders issued to the people of Sattari in past two months and control the abusive illegal actions of his Health Minister OR resign for being incompetent.” he added
Meanwhile, Goencho Awaz said that the Health Minister instead of concentrating on controlling the spread of life threatening crises of Covid-19 in the state, is been busy in taking revengeful action against the people of his own constituency. These go to show the displaced priorities and negligence of the Minister and thus deserve to be sacked immediately as a Health Minister of the State.
