SINGNGAT (MANIPUR): Trustees of the Street Providence Trust, Goa inaugurated an old age home-cum-medical dispensary for widows in collaboration with St Thomas Parish, Singngat on February 27, marking a significant step in extending care and medical support to vulnerable women in the region.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of chief guest Chinlunthang, MLA of 60 Singngat Assembly Constituency, and guest of honour Dharun Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district. The home received blessings from Most Rev Dr Linus Neli, Archbishop of Imphal.
Among the special invitees were Rev Fr Varghese Vellikakam, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Imphal; Haukholien Munluo, Chief of Singngat; Samuel Lhungdim, SDO Singngat; Rev Fr Athanasius Mung, Parish Priest; and Dr Steve M Tungnung, Medical Officer In-Charge, Singngat.
Donald Fernandes, founder of Street Providence Trust, Goa, was also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the bishop said the initiative reflects a mission of compassion and care for widows and the elderly in Manipur, providing them with shelter, dignity, and access to essential medical services. The project aims to serve as a beacon of hope for the vulnerable and underprivileged sections of society in the region.
