In a significant milestone for India’s aerospace and defence sector, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to inaugurate the 15th edition of Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru, beginning on February 10. Themed ‘The Runway to a Billion Opportunities’, this event promises to be the largest Aero India show to date, highlighting India’s technological advancements and self-reliance in the aerospace and defence industries.
For the first time in its history, Aero India 2025 will feature both the Russian Su-57 and the American F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft, marking a historic moment in global defence collaboration. This edition also aims to inspire India’s youth, fostering a scientific temperament and a spirit of innovation.
The 15th edition of Aero India 2025, scheduled from February 10 to 14, will be held at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the event, emphasizing India’s strength, resilience, and self-reliance in aerospace and defence. The event spans over 42,000 square meters and boasts participation from over 900 exhibitors, including 150 foreign companies.
More than 90 countries are participating in Aero India 2025, with defence ministers or representatives from about 30 countries and air chiefs and secretaries from 43 countries attending. This global participation underscores the growing confidence in India’s aerospace and defence capabilities.
The aerial displays will be a highlight, featuring a ‘Naari Shakti’ formation led by women pilots in Rafale aircraft and a Tejas Formation with Air Chief Marshal A P Singh. The event will also showcase the Russian Su-57 and the American F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft, a first for Aero India.
The first three days of the event are dedicated to business visitors, while the last two days are open to the general public. This year’s Aero India includes a Defence Ministers’ Conclave, a CEOs’ RoundTable, the iDEX startup event, and a large exhibition area featuring the India Pavilion. The India Pavilion, themed ‘Flight of Self-Reliance’, will showcase India’s commitment to the Make-in-India initiative and its defence manufacturing capabilities.
Aero India 2025 is expected to enhance collaboration with friendly nations, foster deeper cooperation, and inspire India’s youth in scientific and innovative pursuits. The event underscores India’s growing global confidence in its aerospace and defence capabilities and its commitment to innovation and strategic collaboration.
Defence production in India has crossed a record figure of Rs 1.27 lakh crore and is expected to exceed Rs 1.60 lakh crore by the end of 2025-26. Defence exports, which have touched Rs 21,000 crore, are also expected to surpass Rs 30,000 crore, further solidifying India’s position in the global defence market.
