CURCHORM: Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School, Curchorem blanked St. Thomas High School, Cansaulim 5-0 to win the U-17 boys South Goa District Subroto Mukherjee Football tournament played at DYSA ground Dramapur, organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs on Wednesday.
In an exciting encounter, the teams started on an attacking mode and soon in the 15th minutes from the word go, Guardian Angel’s striker Alden Francis Aori opened an account and before the lamon break the boys were up with a comfortable lead of three goals through their strikers Bryden Fernandes and again through Alden in the 20th and 25th minutes respectively.
After changing ends, St. Thomas played some defensive game but that could not bring any relief to them inspite of continued efforts to score as Guardian Angel resisted all their moves and succeeded in increasing the tally with one more goal from striker Shawn Fernandes.
St. Thomas boys lost all their winning hopes when Shawn Fernandes of Guardian Angel hit again the last nail into rival coffin to seal St. Thomas fate.
Earlier in the semi-finals Guardian Angel defeated Mount Mary Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim via tie-breaker 3-2 and St. Thomas defeated Kamaxi Higher Secondary School, Ponda 5-1
