CALANGUTE: Michael Lobo, the Calangute MLA, expressed confidence that the stakeholders in the coastal belt will not suffer any bad effects from Sunburn, the well-known EDM festival, moving to Dhargalim.
He emphasized that the festival’s attendees will eventually visit beaches like Anjuna, Vagator, and Calangute, which would help the local economy.
“Sunburn can occur anywhere and will still be advantageous to us. Anjuna, Vagator, or Calangute are the obvious destinations for festival goers who wish to explore the surrounding beaches, according to Lobo.
Although Lobo acknowledged Dhargalim as a possible location, he drew attention to the area’s inadequate infrastructure for a significant event like as Sunburn.
“Dhargalim is a nice town, but it doesn’t have the facilities that it needs, such restaurants and motels. Furthermore, there are no beaches in the area, which are a big draw for festival attendees. He clarified, “Those who attend Sunburn will also want to visit the beaches.”
During and after the music event, Lobo voiced hope that the coastal belt will continue to attract tourists, guaranteeing financial gains for regional tourism partners.
Lobo emphasized how important music is to maintaining tourism and said that noise pollution may be reduced by following the rules set down in the Sound Pollution Act.
Around the world, some places are set aside for music performance, while others are meant for quiet. Music cannot be entirely eradicated; else, tourism would cease to exist. To guarantee that locals are not inconvenienced while visitors have a good time, a balance must be maintained, Lobo stated.
“We must follow the Sound Pollution Act so tourists can enjoy music without disrupting the peace of local residents,” he continued, emphasizing the need for appropriate regulation.
