DHARGAL: Amidst divide within the villagers, Sunburn gets provisional approval from Dhargal panchayat to host their annual EDM Festival in the village.
The application was passed by 5 votes against 4 during a special meeting held by Sarpanch at Dhargal Village panchayat.
“Panchayat has given permission for Sunburn after consulting a legal advisor,” said Dhargal Sarpanch Satish Dhuma
He also admitted to having succumbed to pressure from higher authorities to grant this permission.
“Dhargal village panchayat has granted provisional permission for Sunburn. The decision was made with a narrow vote of 5 in favor and 4 against,” he added
Many people in Dhargal and the nearby villages of Pernem taluka have voiced their support for the Sunburn festival on Sunday, despite the opposition of some inhabitants.
According to Dhargal Sarpanch, the locals showed their support for the EDM concert on Sunday.
“This EDM festival only lasts for three days and is not a permanent event. One young person from the area, “We should think positively and consider how it could benefit us.” a local said
“If the event is held in Dhargal, the organizers should donate a garbage vehicle to the panchayat, give the business to local taxi operators for transportation, and give self-help groups stalls at the venue,” he said, referring to the four demands they had made to the panchayat.
According to Manohar Dhargalkar, a ZP member of Dhargal, “Goa has hosted the EDM event for a number of years. Both Indians and foreigners are drawn to it. Despite the fact that it is coordinated in conjunction with the government, some people link it to drugs and alcohol.
He went on to say that since these kinds of activities help the town grow, they ought to be encouraged.
He asserted that people shouldn’t oppose anything merely for the sake of doing so.
According to neighborhood resident Madhura Ghadge, “I think the villagers should support this event.” The entertainment event is limited to three days. It should be encouraged if it aids in the village’s growth and benefits the local youth and women’s organizations. She claimed to be a well-known traveler.
