BICHOLIM: The roads in Surla village need urgent attention with the local panch is hopeful that the work would begin after the monsoon.
The roads in the village are dilapidated and being away from the main panchayat Sural village is neglected. If one has to go to the village he will have to first cross the Chorla ghat and enter the village.
“The health minister, Vishwajeet Rane has completed the work of a bridge in our village and the file of roads came back because of some technical fault. We are told that the roads would be taken up after the monsoon.”
The villagers feel that being detached from the mainstream they need proper infrastructure. The panch claimed that a shortcut road from Pali is being taken up and if this road becomes reality the distance between Goa and this village would be reduced.
Hotel business severely
hit due to COVID19
The hotel business in Chorla ghat is seriously affected by covid and most of the small hotel owners claim that they are at a total loss.
It may be stated that there are about five hotels in Chorla ghat that provide snacks and other such stuff to those playing between Goa and Karnataka. This pandemic has seriously affected these hotels with very few customers.
“We were mostly dependent upon buses that travelled between Goa and Karnataka but now with this transport being stopped, we are in total loss” Shiva a hotel staff told.
Because of restrictions, there are very few people who halt at these hotels and the hotels had to reduce the staff as well. “We used to employ about six staff but now during the pandemic, we have reduced it to two,” a hotel owner told.
These hoteliers are hopeful that the good old days would return and they would again earn some profit.
