PANAJI: Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said that the state government will announce its Solar Power Policy in the forthcoming assembly session in July.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Minister for Power Sudin Dhavalikar, Secretary (Power) Y. V. V. J. Rajasekhar, IAS, inaugurated the ’40 kW solar power rooftop GRID today connected system’ organised by Goa Energy Development Agency at the Secretariat Building, Porvorim – Goa.
“The state government will announce its Solar Power Policy in the forthcoming assembly session in July; I cannot give out more details as it will be placed in assembly,” said Dhavalikar.
Dhavalikar further said that the Tamnar project is important for the coastal state as it will add 1200 MW of power to the capacity of the power deficit state, which has been at the receiving end of a string of indiscriminate power cuts this summer.
The Power Minister lamented that Goa doesn’t have a single power generation plant, adding that to overcome the power woes, the government would formulate a solar policy within one month and introduce it within the subsequent two months.
He said the state government is encouraging the use of solar panels, and a scheme for farmers has been launched, which benefits them with a subsidy of 90 per cent on total expenditure.
