CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have registered an attempted murder case under Section 109(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
The case was registered as Calangute P.S. Crime No. 109/2025 at 12:18 hrs on the basis of a complaint filed by Akash Thavreppa Lamani, aged 22 years, resident of J.J. Bakery, Khobra Waddo, Calangute.
As per the complaint, on 13/07/2025 at around 00:30 hrs near J.J. Bakery, Khobra Waddo, accused Akash Lamani, aged about 26 years, resident of Baga, Calangute, and native of Balaji Nagar, Gadag, Karnataka, allegedly assaulted Arun Lamani, aged 23 years, with a pen knife. The assault reportedly ki stemmed from a monetary dispute related to a tattoo business.
The victim sustained grievous injuries to his face and left abdomen in what police have termed a clear attempt to commit murder.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of PSI Yogesh Mandrekar of Calangute Police Station.
