CANACONA: Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar will build 7 houses under his ambitious ‘Shram-Dham’ concept to the needy people of Priol Constituency.
According to sources, recently Speaker Tawadkar attended and addressed a meeting of the BJP Karyakartas of Priol Constituency at Marcela and made the announcement about the building of Seven (7) new houses under ‘Shram-Dham’ concept to the needy people identified by BJP karyakarta reportedly not in good terms with the constituency MLA and Minister for Arts and Culture Govind Gaude. It is reportedly learnt that the meeting was attended Gaude’s rival and BJP leader who contested the last assembly elections as Independent candidate against the official candidature of Govind Gaude, (after the rebellion lost his strong claim for BJP ticket to contest Priol Constituency) and was heavily attended by many BJP karyakartas.
According to sources, soon after adjoning the Assembly sine-die on Saturday, Tawadkar went to Priol constituency and addressed a meeting with BJP workers there at Marcela and said he had plans to build seven new houses under his Shram Dham project to needy people.
Recently, during one of his visits to the neighboring Miraj district of Maharashtra State, Tawadkar also made an announcement to extend his ‘Shram-Dham concept and agreed to build a house to the needy people of Miraj, accepting a request from the Sarpanch of a village in Sangli-Miraj in Maharashtra who requested to build a house for two orphaned siblings of tht village under the initiative (Shram-Dham).

It may be recalled that Canacona MLA and GLA Speaker as part of his ambitious plan ‘Shram-Dham’ has built around 22 houses to the needy people of Canacona constituency belonging to different communities and has aimed to increase the tally to another hundred houses in this year and declared there won’t any family living without a decent roof-over-their heads in the entire constituency. With the funds collected on the concept of ‘Done Rupee One and Work for a Day’, Tawadkar has initially built two houses to two ST families in the villages of Gaondongrim and Khotigao, before embarking on to build and complete around twenty houses some months ago in various villages and different communities amongst Canacona constituency.
The concept is widely acclaimed in the State as besides the Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant and most ministers and MLA strongly backing the concept expressing willingness to start the concept in their respective constituencies, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla (who specially flied down to Goa to inaugurate 20 such houses) and a few other central ministers has too appreciated Tawadkar’s ‘Shram-Dham’ concept.
Incidentally, Tawadkar’s declaration to build 7 (Seven) Shram-Dham houses in Priol constituency assumes significance, as the Tawadkar joined hands with the bitter-rivals of his bête noire Minister for Arts and Culture Govind Gaude to make a headway in the constituency represented by his party(BJP) colleague MLA with whom a feud has ensued for the last few months, and escalated in recent times. Tawadkar has reportedly succeeded in cancelling a cultural program (Kala Utsav) in Gaondongrim village, which was scheduled on Sunday supposed to be inaugurated by Minister for Arts and Culture Govind Gawade, with the missing of Canaocna MLA and GLA Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar name in the guest list.
