NERUL: In the wake of a dramatic road collision near LPK Road in Nerul, a simmering dispute between tourists and a taxi driver escalated into violence leading to arrest of tourists.
The incident unfolded when a West Bengal-registered vehicle crashed into a taxi driven by Joaquim D’Souza from Tuem-Pernem.
Despite the tourists’ refusal to pay for the damages, D’Souza insisted on compensation, leading to an altercation where the tourists allegedly punched him.
As news of the assault spread, local taxi operators assembled at the Porvorim Police Station to press for severe action against the culprits.
In response, authorities have taken the tourists into custody and are currently investigating the matter.
