New Delhi: In a rare and striking public admission, a senior commander of Pakistan based terror group Lashkar e Taiba has acknowledged that India’s Operation Sindoor inflicted severe damage on the organisation’s core infrastructure at Muridke in Pakistan. The remarks mark one of the clearest confirmations from within the group that the Indian operation achieved its intended objective.
Hafiz Abdul Rauf, a key Lashkar commander involved in training and deployment of terrorists, told a gathering that the complex at Markaz e Taiba was destroyed during the Indian strike carried out on the night of May 6 and 7, 2025. He admitted that the site, which the group projected as a religious facility, had collapsed and was no longer usable. His statement directly confirms that the headquarters like facility was rendered inoperable.
Operation Sindoor was launched following the April 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 civilians were killed. Investigations later established that the attack was executed by Lashkar e Taiba operatives operating under the name The Resistance Front, using advanced foreign made weapons and equipment.
Rauf also acknowledged that Chinese weapons and equipment were used by Pakistan and Lashkar during the period of heightened tensions that followed the attack. In a further revealing assertion, he claimed that terror recruitment and training in Pakistan operates with open freedom, stating that such activities are possible because of state level decisions. The remark reinforces long standing allegations that terror groups function with institutional backing rather than mere tolerance.
He went on to praise China, claiming it supported Pakistan with intelligence inputs during the confrontation with India. His comments blended ideology, grievance, and strategic messaging, portraying the episode as one with global resonance beyond South Asia.
The admission carries added significance as it comes months after public events were reportedly held at the same Muridke complex, suggesting attempts to signal continuity despite the damage. Rauf’s statements now cast doubt on those claims and underline the scale of the blow delivered by Operation Sindoor.
The remarks provide rare on record insight into the inner workings of Pakistan based terror networks and the environment that enables them, offering fresh momentum to India’s longstanding position on cross border terrorism.
