VALPOI:
It has been raining heavily in Maloli, Nanoda for the last two days, due to which the wall of one side of the bridge at Maloli has completely collapsed.
This is the Portuguese era bridge that connects around six villages in Sattari.
The locals have been demanding a parallel or new bridge as travelling has become a significant risk.
However, due to the ignorance of State administration, the wall on one side of the bridge collapsed on Tuesday night.
“Travelling on the bridge is now risky, and most of the villages are now cut-off from Valpoi town,” said a local, speaking to Goemakarponn.
Locals say the bridge was old and the traffic has also increased significantly.
The villagers say there is an urgent need for a new bridge and a strengthening of this bridge.
