CANACONA: Bizarre accident occurred near the newly constructed road divider on NH66 at Gulem, Canacona, when three motorcycles collided with each other. The collision left one rider with serious leg injuries, while two others escaped with minor injuries.
The seriously injured biker was initially treated at Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, and later transferred to South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao.
According to sources, two of the bikers were traveling from Char-Rasta towards Margao, while the third biker was crossing the road from the opposite direction towards Devabhag, near the recently constructed divider. This led to the mishap.
Local authorities have conducted an on-site panchanama and are investigating the incident. Locals, however, expressed concerns about the frequency of accidents at this location, particularly since the road was widened and a divider was introduced. Several other motorists, including those in four-wheelers, have reportedly been involved in mishaps at the same spot.
A resident of Gulem suggested that the government should consider installing a traffic signal at the site to prevent further accidents, urging authorities to implement safety measures to protect motorists from potential hazards.
