COLVALE: An offence has been registered against three inmates of Central Jail Colvale for allegedly assaulting an undertrial prisoner inside the जेल premises.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by Bomu Pavane, Deputy Superintendent of Central Jail Colvale, and the offence was registered on February 26, 2026, at 1:35 pm.
As per the complaint, the incident occurred on February 25, 2026, at around 6:00 pm in Block No. 4 of the jail. The accused inmates have been identified as Narayan alias Babu Bhalekar, Sagar Patil, and Manthan Chari, all lodged at the Central Jail.
The three accused, allegedly acting with common intention, assaulted Simachal Parida, an undertrial prisoner, by punching him on the face. The assault reportedly resulted in fracture injuries to the right side of his jaw.
Police have registered the case, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Vishnu Jadhav.
