CALANGUTE: In the bustling tourist hub of Calangute, Goa, a violent altercation between visitors from Maharashtra and hotel security personnel from Assam has led to a cross FIR being filed at the local police station.
The incident, which occurred during the checkout process, has highlighted tensions between tourists and security staff in the area.
On the day of the incident, Dheeraj Chaudhry, one of the tourists from Maharashtra, alleged that he was threatened and assaulted by security staff using a stick, resulting in head injuries.
This led to a confrontation involving Dheeraj Chaudhry, his brother Neeraj Chaudhry, and four other tourists on one side, and security staff members Gulzar Ali and Musabir Hussain on the other.
The Calangute Police Station has registered a case under Cr. No. 28/2025, with sections including 351(3) and 118(1) r/w 3(5) BNS, 2023.
The investigation is currently ongoing under the supervision of ASI NV Salgaonkar.
The clash has raised concerns about the safety and security of tourists in the region, as well as the need for better communication and conflict resolution mechanisms between hotel staff and visitors.
