RIBANDAR: A serious accident took place near Sona Angel General Store in Ribandar, Tiswadi, when a motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming passenger bus, leaving two persons grievously injured.
The incident occurred around 11:10 am, when the rider of a Hero Honda Splendor, identified as Anthony Furtardo (26), a resident of Churchwada, Halga in Karwar, Karnataka, was proceeding from Old Goa towards Panaji. According to police, Furtardo was allegedly riding in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life, when he lost control and rammed into a passenger bus bearing registration number GA-09-U-1408.
As a result of the collision, both the rider and his pillion passenger, identified as Rony Fernandes, sustained serious injuries. The two were immediately shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim for treatment.
Based on a complaint by Head Constable Yogesh Palni of Old Goa Police Station, a case has been registered under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The FIR has been submitted to the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Merces, and other superior officers. Further investigation is underway.
