VERNA: Two persons, Akshay Bhimrao Pawar (24), a native of Sangli and Akshay Vitthal Patil (27), a native of Kolhapur, Maharashtra but both residents of near Verna Masjid Consua, Cortalim were killed in an accident at workplace at Cipla unit in Verna.
Sources in Verna Police said that they got information from casualty police of South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) Margao that 02 male persons were brought dead at casualty SGDH, Margao as a case of an accident at the workplace in Cipla IDC Verna.
“During the inquiry, it was revealed that both the deceased was working as an operator for N.J. Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. in “Briquette Boiler” plant at Cipla Unit-II, IDC-Verna and on Thursday at about 04.00 hrs, when they entered the elevator pit to repair the crusher (machine), they got suffocated and collapsed. Further, they were shifted to a hospital where they were declared dead. Inquest Panchanama was conducted over the dead bodies and further preserved at SGDH Morgue Margao to conduct Medico-legal formalities” said the source.
Verna Police Station has registered a case of unnatural death under section 194 of BNSS.
LPSI Pramila Fernandes of Verna Police is carrying out a further investigation under the supervision of PI Melson Colaco and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
