PANAJI: Two Ugandan nationals were detained by the Crime Branch (CB) detectives on Wednesday for living in India without proper travel documentation.
The duo, identified as 38-year-old Catherine Nakawuka and 26-year-old Natukunda Suzan Naluyima were located close to an Arambol parking lot during an operation to stop unauthorized foreign stays in the State.
According to information provided by the CB, the women were discovered in violation of the Passport Entry Act of 1920, the Foreigners Order of 1948, the Foreigners Act 1946, and the Passport Entry into India Rule 1950 by not having their passports, visas, or any other travel documentation.
“The Supreme Court’s guidelines have been followed, and they have been placed under arrest.” Through FRRO Panaji, the Ugandan embassy has been informed of the arrest, according to PRO Rahul Gupta.
The accused has been ordered to judicial custody for ten days by the court.
