Ponda: An unidentified man aged around 30 to 40 years was found dead inside an abandoned vehicle near the parking area behind Mahalasa Temple in Mardol, Ponda, on March 10.
According to police, a call was received at around 9:04 pm from the Medical Officer of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Marcaim informing that an unknown male had been brought dead to the casualty by the 108 emergency service after he was found lying in a vehicle near the temple parking area.
Police visited the spot and conducted a scene of unnatural death (UD) occurrence panchanama. During inquiry, it was revealed that the deceased was a beggar and a chronic alcoholic who was often seen sleeping inside the old abandoned vehicle and sometimes on the footpath at Mardol market during night hours.
The body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for further medico-legal formalities and identification.
