Vasco: Vasco Railway Police have registered a case of unnatural death after an unidentified male body was found on the railway tracks between Margao and Chandor, with preliminary inquiry indicating the possibility of suicide.
The incident came to light after the Deputy Station Manager of Vasco alerted authorities about a body lying on the tracks following the passage of a passenger train . A team from Vasco Railway Police immediately visited the spot to investigate.
Upon inspection, police found the body of a man, estimated to be around 40 to 45 years of age, with a strong build and wheatish complexion. He was approximately 5 feet 5 inches in height and was wearing army-green track pants.
Enquiry at the scene suggested that the deceased may have ended his life by coming in the path of a running train.
The body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for identification and medico-legal formalities. Authorities have appealed to the public for help in identifying the deceased.
A case of unnatural death has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The enquiry is being carried out by PSI Krishna Talpi of Vasco Railway Police Station under the supervision of PI Amarnath Passi and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
