MARGAO: Canacona Police have registered an unnatural death case after a 43-year-old man was found dead in his rented room at Ponsulem, Canacona, on Thursday morning.
According to police, a call was received from the 108 ambulance service at around 11:17 am informing that a male person had allegedly died by suicide inside his rented premises.
Police visited the spot and identified the deceased as Pramod Kumar Paliwal, aged 43 years, presently residing at Ponsulem, Canacona, and originally from Butrara in Uttar Pradesh.
During the enquiry, police found that the deceased had allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in the bedroom using a green nylon saree as ligature material.
Family members informed police that they had gone to a relative’s house and upon returning found the main door locked from inside. After opening the door, they allegedly discovered the deceased hanging from a wooden raft with the help of the nylon saree.
Police conducted the unnatural death occurrence panchanama and inquest panchanama over the body. The body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for further medico-legal formalities.
Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Ajit Velip of Canacona Police Station.
