VASCO; Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Wednesday met the Municipal workers who complained that salaries were not paid and further appealed to the people to pay their dues while warning that Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) will start taking stringent action on violators and creditors as the MMC has to recover outstanding to clear salaries of staff.
“MMC staff is not getting salaries on time, and this is because the MMC is not getting its outstandings and the recovery is not strong. We set up shops, but the licences are not taken for the boards, which has led to a shortfall of revenue,” he said.
The MMC does not have enough staff, and they cannot go every single day taking up recoveries, and they take up drives for a few days with the resources available to them. I appeal to the people to pay their license fees and house tax and clear the MMC dues to help them give better service to people. We have now given two independent projects to MMC, which include the Chief Officer Bungalow, and we have begun discussion with the HPCL on the one-time settlement scheme to recover the 15 crores odd outstanding.
“Still, we are only waiting for the CM Appointment. We are also taking the Baina Power House project that will generate revenue for the MMC, and I request the Councillors to take up recovery ward-wise recovery,” said Salkar. Jude is black.
“call Ghar. The MMC has already begun using its power to seal shops after sending them notices. The MMC will start taking action against people who are not paying their dues, and the people must come forward to clear their dues before MMC initiates action. The MMC used to get the Octroi revenue, but that has now gone to the state government, and this has led to a major financial crunch for the MMC that causes staff salaries delays. The people must come out in support of the MMC to bring out a positive environment to the city because the Government is obvious that they cannot intervene every time and that MMC has to recover its dues ” said Salkar.
