PANAJI: Vedanta Ltd has addressed concerns raised by farmers in Mayem regarding compensation dues. The clarification comes after a press conference where farmers expressed their grievances.
Here is a detailed look at the company’s stance on the matter.
Vedanta Ltd has stated that all compensation dues for the period from 2010 to 2013, pertaining to Sesa Mining Corporation Ltd, have been fully paid to the farmers in Mayem. The company emphasized that no dues are currently pending against Sesa Mining Corporation Ltd, and since 2013, there have been no mining operations conducted at the Mayem site.
Additionally, Vedanta Ltd began operations at the Bicholim Mining Block Block I on April 24, but it has not commenced any mining activities on the Mayem side of the block. Therefore, the issue of compensation for Mayem farmers does not arise in this context.
This clarification aims to resolve any misconceptions and reassure stakeholders about the company’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations.
