PANAJI: A complaint has been lodged with the Vigilance Department against three senior officials of the Public Works Department (PWD), including Principal Chief Engineer (PCE) Uttam Parsekar, over alleged favouritism in promotions and misuse of official powers for personal benefit.
The complaint, filed by Lata Dessai, also names Director of Administration (PWD) Gaurish Kurtikar and Deputy Director Prakash Redka as co-accused.
In a curious twist, the Vigilance Department has directed PCE Parsekar—one of the officials named in the complaint—to verify the allegations against himself and submit a factual report within 15 days.
The directive, signed by Vigilance Officer Archana Chodankar, notes that the order was issued with the approval of the Chief Secretary.
Sources in the Vigilance Department said the move is part of a preliminary verification process before deciding whether to initiate a formal inquiry.
The department will review Parsekar’s report before determining further action.
