PANAJI: Goa State Election Commission (SEC) today informed that elections to 186 village panchayat will be held in June 2020.
SEC also said that the entire process of ensuing elections will have to be completed by June 18.
“Elections to 186 village panchayat will be held in June 2020, the entire process ensuing elections will have to be completed by June 19,” the SEC W.V Ramamurthy.
SEC further said that it has initiated the process of the delimitation of 186 Village Panchayat areas into wards for ensuing General Elections to Village Panchayats 2022.
“In order to complete the delimitation task in an error-free and logical manner, the Commission, for the first time, has rolled out the customised web-based software. Where each voter, along with their house number, is placed in his respective ward. Hence there is no voter/Household is left out,” he added.
The SEC informed that the Village Panchayat Wards are constituted considering the geographical contiguity, natural boundaries, and many voters. Also, Village Panchayat wards are proposed in consonance with Section 7 of the Goa.
The draft delimitation proposal prepared by EROS is kept open in the Office of the respective ERO from February 24, 2022, to March 02, 2022, for the general public to submit their suggestions/ modifications/ Corrections pertaining to the said delimitation of Village Panchayats Wards.
“ROS will prepare the final delimitation proposals after considering the suggestions/ modifications/ Corrections of the public and submit the same to the Commission through respective District Collectors / District Election Officers on or before March 08, 2022,” he said.
