PANAJI: The viral video claim that a tigress and three cubs were roaring in the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary region was denied by the State Forest Department.
The department said in a statement that the video is three years old and has nothing to do with Goa.
“The social media video of the tiger and two cubs is nearly three years old and has nothing to do with Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary or the state of Goa,” the department stated.
Additionally, it has asked the public and media to avoid disseminating any unconfirmed information regarding schedule-I animals.
However, it was previously claimed that residents had recorded a video of a tigress and her two cubs traveling around the Chorla area, and environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar corroborated this.
Kerkar further attested to the fact that the tigress is frequently spotted screaming around Chorla Ghat.
According to him, a recent study conducted by forest officials in Karnataka and Maharashtra found that the tigers seen in the wild in Goa are resident tigers rather than migratory ones.
