PANAJI: Goa was shaken by two back-to-back gruesome murders in the past 24 hours. While a female teacher was murdered at Old Goa in North Goa yesterday, a male dead body was found in Margao on early Saturday morning.
On Saturday morning, police found a male body, stabbed to death in a tempo, having Maharashtra registration. The tempo was parked near Raviraj hotel, Margao.
No further details were available by the time the edition went for print. The police team were on site with the forensic team. The police are currently going through the CCTV footage available from the nearby shops.
Meanwhile, a fitness trainer Gaurav Bidre murdered a college lecturer at Old Goa after their relationship turned sour.
Gauri Achari (35) was strangulated to death, and her body was thrown in the jungle at Kadamba plateau bypass road.
Accused Bidre (36), a professional fitness trainer, has confessed to having committed the crime, according to police.
Gauri, a lecturer at Khandala College, was missing yesterday and her mother had filed a missing report with the Old Goa police station.
Police zeroed on the accused after tracing the car and mobile location and getting input from her mother.
The accused confessed to having committed the crime during interrogation and led the police to the spot where the body was disposed of.
Police retrieved the body and sent it to GMC for post-mortem. According to police, the accused said that he was having a relationship with the deceased, and she had stopped responding in recent times that enraged him. Bidre has been arrested for the murder of Gauri Achari under sections 302 and 201 of IPC.
