Uttar Pradesh: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday condemned the recent violent incidents in Bareilly and warned that anyone attempting to disrupt peace in the state would face strict police action.
Speaking at a public meeting in Balrampur, CM Yogi referred to the lathi-charge during the clashes in Bareilly, cautioning that miscreants would meet the same fate if such violent protests were repeated. “A few individuals should not be allowed to spoil the environment. These are the same people who brought an identity crisis to Uttar Pradesh along with corrupt governments, resulting in a lack of investments and development,” he said.
He added that those adopting “new tactics” to create disorder must remember that the government is better prepared than they think. “They will be beaten just as they were beaten in Bareilly,” he said.
CM Yogi also addressed the controversy surrounding ‘I Love Muhammad’ posters, saying that such actions were harming children. “Faith is a matter of conscience, not a display at crossroads. Some people are creating chaos by giving small children these posters, ruining their lives while failing to realise their own are already in disarray,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government will not tolerate lawlessness. “Anyone attempting to take the law into their own hands will face strict consequences. This kind of anarchy is unacceptable,” he warned.
The remarks come after protests outside Ala Hazrat Dargah and the residence of Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan in Bareilly turned violent. Maulana Tauqeer Raza, identified as a key conspirator, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody, according to UP Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajay Kumar Sahni.
