PANAJI: Clen Madeira, Commissioner of the City of the City of Panaji (CCP), appealed to citizens to work closely with the CCP by extending their support to the Corporation to make the Capital City one of the cleanest cities in Asia.
Madeira spoke during India’s 74th Republic Day function organized in the CCP town hall on Thursday.
Madeira once said that he had come across one of the articles regarding Panjim as the cleanest town in Asia. Madeira urged citizens to keep the city clean, “If we work together, we can reclaim the same position again.”
Informing that Goa will be hosting the G20 Summit, Madeira sought citizens’ help and cooperation in keeping the capital city clean.
The individuals, representatives of commercial establishments and housing societies who have started sixteen ways to segregate garbage, and those who are managing the waste generated within their premises were felicitated for their contribution.
Congratulating the felicitations, Deputy Mayor of CCP Sanjeev Naik said the aim is to appreciate and encourage more people to segregate their waste and boost them to practice home composting.
On this occasion, a simple way of home composting and leaf mould composting was also demonstrated by the ComepostVille team working to build purpose-driven communities, enable and encourage positive actions and grow together towards sustainability.
Municipal Engineer Vivek Parsekar and CCP engineer Dylan Fernandes were present at the occasion. The event ended with liquid fertilizers and compost distribution to all the participants.
