Curchorem Police have registered a case against four persons following allegations of assault, vandalism, robbery and outraging of modesty during an incident reported at Kakoda in Curchorem.
According to police, the case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by a woman complainant who alleged that the incident took place on May 11 at around 8.15 pm.
Police said the accused persons, identified as Shreya Kamat, Salil Kamat, Dhruv Bhende and Pradnya Bhende, allegedly damaged the complainant’s Celerio car. The complainant stated that the front windscreen of the vehicle was damaged by Shreya Kamat and Salil Kamat, while Dhruv Bhende allegedly broke the rear windscreen by throwing a large stone.
The accused are also alleged to have formed an unlawful assembly and, in furtherance of their common object, punctured the rear tyre of the vehicle and damaged its wiper.
According to the complaint, when the woman questioned the accused regarding the incident, Shreya Kamat and Pradnya Bhende allegedly caught hold of her hair, while Dhruv Bhende allegedly assaulted her by punching her on the face. The complainant further alleged that Dhruv Bhende outraged her modesty by tearing her clothes.
Police said the accused also allegedly threatened to kill the complainant and her family members. The complainant further alleged that Shreya Kamat wrongfully restrained her, snatched her car keys and took away her mangalsutra valued at approximately Rs 2.7 lakh.
Based on the complaint, Curchorem Police registered Crime No. 18/2026 under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to assault, criminal intimidation, unlawful assembly, robbery, wrongful restraint and outraging of modesty.
