VERNA: A tragic road accident near Titan Junction, Verna, has claimed the life of a woman who succumbed to her injuries after battling for her life at GMC Bambolim
.
As per a complaint lodged by Siddesh Dessai, Head Constable at Verna Police Station, the incident occurred on 29 October 2024 at approximately 5:45 PM.
Sumit, the driver of a Tata bus and a resident of Poriebhatt, Verna, originally hailing from V-Khaira, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, allegedly drove his bus in a rash and negligent manner.
While proceeding from IDC Verna towards Cortalim, the bus collided with a TVS Jupiter scooter near Titan Junction.
The scooter rider, identified as Suparna Gawas, a resident of Sancoale, Upasnagar, Zuarinagar, was traveling in the same direction when the bus reportedly hit her from behind.
The impact caused her to fall onto the road, resulting in severe injuries.
Despite medical treatment at GMC Bambolim, she tragically passed away.
Verna Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS Act.
Further investigations are being conducted by PSI Ramchandra Naik under the supervision of PI Melson Colaco and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam
