PANAJI: Workshop for District level officials on COTPA implementation at SIHFW, Mapusa held recently.
DR. Swapnil Areskar MD Physician and others lighted the traditional lamp. Dr. Chaitali Manekar welcomed the dignitaries.
Dr. Puneet Chahar spoke on Global practices for Tobacco Control, COTPA sections and the role of enforcement officials.
He also spoke on prohibition of E cigarettes ACT (PECA), tobacco free village: a local approach and a role of panchyat.
Roland Martins from GOACAN spoke on emerging challenges while implementing COTPA in Goa. Dr Fhelan Da Costa from Goa Dental College spoke on epidemiology of Tobacco & its harmful effects.
Dr Nadita Nadkarni District Nodal Officer spoke on Tobacco Control in Goa. Progress in 2024-2025 She also spoke on various activities happening in North Goa under NTCP.
It was emphasized to implement section 4 , 6 a & b and 7 of COTPA effectively to achieve desired goals of reducing prevalence of Tobacco consumption among youngsters and adults and to reduce second hand smoke exposure to non-smokers.
Participants were given certificates at the hands of the Chief Guest.
