Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed authorities to show no mercy to those involved in creating unrest across the state, calling Dussehra a festival dedicated to vanquishing evil and terror. Expressing concern over recent incidents of objectionable processions and provocative slogans in Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Moradabad, Budaun, Maharajganj, Unnao, Sambhal, Agra, and Bareilly, he asserted that these actions reflect a well-planned conspiracy to disturb peace, which will not be tolerated.
The Chief Minister instructed that FIRs be filed immediately against all involved and emphasised that organisers and masterminds must be identified, with their properties investigated. “Not a single wrongdoer involved in these processions should be spared. Scan video footage, monitor social media, and take action against every one of them,” CM Adityanath said.
Late Friday, he reviewed law and order with senior government officials, zonal ADGs, IGs, divisional commissioners, district magistrates, and police chiefs, along with senior field officers. He reiterated his zero-tolerance policy against criminals, stressing that the safety of every citizen remains the government’s top priority.
CM Adityanath expressed satisfaction with the progress of Mission Shakti 5.0, initiated during Sharadiya Navratri, and issued instructions to prevent disguised offenders from infiltrating garba, dandiya, and other festive events. He highlighted the need for prompt action in crimes against women, including molestation, chain snatching, and acid attacks, noting that accountability will extend to police stations, outposts, and PRVs.
The Chief Minister also addressed rumours of drone surveillance and theft in districts like Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Basti, and Prayagraj, calling for the arrest of individuals spreading misinformation. He instructed regular police patrols and strict monitoring to curb misleading content on social media.
Taking a firm stance against attempts to incite caste conflicts, CM Adityanath stressed strict adherence to government orders and warned that any effort to foster animosity in the name of caste will not be tolerated. He also urged Durga Puja committees to ensure safe arrangements and proper conduct of Ravana Dahan ceremonies.
On matters of law enforcement and trade, the Chief Minister directed strict action against cow smuggling and mandated surprise inspections of slaughterhouses to ensure compliance with standards. Regarding the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida, he called for heightened alertness, efficient traffic management, and robust security arrangements for the large crowds and foreign buyers. The district magistrate reported that approximately 49,000 people visited the trade show on the second day.
