PANAJI: Rising talents took centre stage at the Baale BPS Open 2026 as key finals across categories were decided at the B.P.S. Sports Club, with impressive performances from youth competitors drawing strong attention. The tournament, currently underway in Margao, has continued to highlight competitive depth and emerging promise in Indian tennis.
In the Girls Under 18 final, Tvisha Sardesai displayed control and consistency to defeat Urvi Panandiker in straight sets. Tvisha closed out the contest 4-1, 4-3, maintaining composure in key moments to secure the title. Her ability to dictate play and manage pressure proved decisive in the championship clash.
The Boys Under 18 final produced a far tighter contest, with Ethan Ataide overcoming Kyan Mavany in a thrilling encounter. After dropping the opening set, Ethan rallied strongly to take the second before dominating the match tiebreak. He eventually sealed the title with a 2-4, 4-3, 10-4 victory, drawing applause for his resilience and shot selection under pressure.
Mixed Doubles matches added further excitement to the schedule. In the opening round, Anisha Kadam and Aaron Saldanha bowed out after a closely fought 5-7 loss to Anindita Sarwate and Gary Steele. The quarterfinal stage saw Dunstan Dias and Raisa register a convincing 6-2 win over Valencia Aguiar and Deepak Nahak. Prince Silva and Urvi Panandiker also advanced with a solid 6-2 victory against Poojal and Mohit Manoharan.
In one of the most competitive doubles encounters of the day, Prince Silva and Urvi Panandiker edged past Dunstan Dias and Raisa in a dramatic match that ended 6-1, 5-7, 10-1, underlining the fine margins at this stage of the competition.
Supported by Baale Resort Goa and conducted under the aegis of the Goa State Tennis Association, the Baale BPS Open 2026 continues to provide a strong platform for both emerging players and seasoned competitors.
