PANAJI: The President of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Varad Mardolkar on Monday condemned the act of the State government for detaining the students, who were demanding to postpone the board exams in wake of rising COVID cases.
Mardolkar on Monday addressed a press conference in Congress House Panaji and said that insensitive Pramod Sawant led BJP government has no feeling towards the Students community.
St. Andre Youth Congress President Saish Aroskar, State General Secretary Adv. Archit Naik and Glean Cabral were also present on the occasion.
“This insensitive Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant is pushing students of Class X and Class XII at the risk of COVID-19 by holding exams in classrooms. He has failed to combat the virus, but to satisfy his arrogance, he is risking the life of students.” Mardolkar lamented.
He said that holding the exams in classrooms could expose students to the virus.
“It is risky to appear for the exams. Other states have postponed the board exams. CBSE and ICSE have also taken decisions in the interest of students. But the Goa government is not serious about the students.” He said.
Adv. Archit Naik said that Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant should have listened to the voice of students, which he failed and instead detained them. “These students who had gone to Chief Ministers officials residence at Altinho had sought appointment to submit memorandum. But they were not permitted.” He said.
“This is injustice on students, who had come to meet the Chief Minister seeking justice.” He said.
He said that the Congress Party and the Youth Congress will stand with the student community, so they get the justice.
