PANAJI: Around 500 members of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress on Saturday distributed groceries, food packets, sanitizes and masks to the public, on the occasion of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s birthday.
AICC Secretary and Goa desk incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao attended the programs at Margao and Old Age Home-Old Goa. The leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Youth Congress President Adv. Varad Mardolkar and others were present on the occasion.
The program was carried out by all blocks across Goa. St. Andre block distributed food packets to relatives of patients in GMC, while groceries were given to the Old Age Home at Old Goa by Cumbharjua block.
Dinesh Gundu Rao appreciated the efforts of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress and appealed to remain connected with people to help them further. “This is great service to humanity. We need to help people in these testing times and stitch a good relationship with them.” Rao said.
The leader of opposition Digambar Kamat praising the work of Youth Congress said that youths have set an example by helping people. “Many people have suffered in this pandemic. We need to identify them and help them.” He said.
He also said that people across Goa have appreciated the work of Youth Congress, who supported COVID patients by providing oxygen.
Adv. Varad Mardolkar informed that around 500 members were involved in today’s program. “Our all 40 blocks were on the field today to distribute groceries and other items. I specially thank Dinesh Gundu Rao for attending our programs and guiding us.” He said.
“Past two to three months we have witnessed how people are suffering due to COVID. Unorganized sector also faced problems due to no work during lockdown. We tried to reach them and provided them groceries. Further too we will help till the COVID situation normalizes.” Adv. Mardolkar said.
