PORVORIM: Ahead of the Zilla Panchayat elections, a large number of young men and women (Yuva Shakti) from the Porvorim constituency joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday in the presence of Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan A. Khaunte.
The youths said they were inspired by the performance of the BJP government and formally joined the party at an induction ceremony held at the Kadamba Hotel Hall, Porvorim.
Among those present on the occasion were BJP candidates from Penha de França and Socorro, Sandip Salgaonkar and Amit Asnodkar, respectively, PDF Sarpanch Sapnil Chodankar, Socorro Sarpanch Sonia Pednekar, BJP State General Secretary Siddharth Kunkolienkar, BJYM State President Tushar Kelkar, Mandal President Vineet Parab, and other senior party leaders.
Minister Khaunte welcomed the new entrants by presenting them with roses and the party’s saffron shawl. He said that during recent Zilla Panchayat election campaigns, special corner meetings with youths were held, during which many first-time voters expressed their willingness to join the BJP after being impressed by the achievements of the “double-engine government” led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in Goa.
Addressing the media, Khaunte said, “Youth are the future leaders of our New India. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is a constant guiding force and a true youth icon. Inspired by his leadership, Yuva Shakti wants to actively participate in nation-building. I welcome all the young men and women into the BJP and assure them full support and cooperation.”
He added that many people are inspired by the Centre’s vision of Viksit Bharat and the State Government’s goal of Swayampurna Goa, and that the youth form a major part of this growing support base. Khaunte said first-time voters are clearly leaning towards the BJP.
BJP State General Secretary Siddharth Kunkolienkar said the BJP is a development-oriented party committed to youth and women’s welfare, as well as overall social growth. He said new voters are joining the BJP after experiencing the government’s performance and reiterated that the party works without discrimination.
Mandal President Vineet Parab said that with the entry of new voters, the BJP’s strength in Porvorim has significantly increased.
He expressed confidence that BJP candidates would win from both Socorro and Penha de França constituencies in the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections.
