Margao: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has demanded a thorough audit by the Central Agency before restart of Operations of Zuari Indian Oil Tanking Limited pipeline to avoid any disaster in future.
“With Zuari Indian Oil Tanking Limited claiming source of petroleum product leakage is corroded pipe, total failure of authorities to monitor the operations & lack of periodic maintainance stands exposed. I demand Comprehensive Audit by Central Agency before restart of Operations,” said the Leader of Opposition.
Alemao said the local authorities including State Disaster Management Authority are completely exposed with this incident.
“People have lost faith in these agencies. I reiterate that Mormugao Taluka continues to be Ticking Bomb and only an audit by Central Agency should allow the restart of Operations,” he charged.
He further targetted the government saying the Government is conspicuously silent on Compensation to be paid to the affected families.
“ZIOTL needs to be heavily penalised for destroying environment and creating health hazard,” he stated.
