That on August 12, 2024, Colva Police made a booking for five individuals for engaging in tourist touting, which involved handing out flyers and giving out free prizes with coupons to visitors and guests who were traveling through the Colva neighborhood. This caused congestion for both commuters and tourists.
When questioned, the stated individual was unable to present any formal documentation granting them permission to serve as an agent or guide. In order to stop them from being charged under Section 2(g) and Rule 26 of the Goa Daman and Diu Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982, they were therefore detained by the police.
