COLVA: There was a lot of uproar in the Colva village of South Goa after it was reported that a man had sexually assaulted a fourteen-year-old teenage girl.
Based on information, the local police detained the accused and filed a case under the POCSO Act and other pertinent provisions.
The man from Colva hamlet in South Goa has reportedly been arrested for repeatedly raping the teenager, according to a senior police official.
Devaraju Kaki, the accused, is a Telangana native. Following a police complaint by the victim’s teacher, he was taken into custody on Saturday under pertinent parts of the Goa Children’s Act, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
According to the authorities, the accused reportedly sexually assaulted the girl multiple times while her parents were away.
Police didn’t elaborate on details including the place of the crime, the age of the accused, and the circumstances surrounding the crime.
A court remanded the accused in police custody for five days.
