FATORDA: Fatorda police has booked two persons in connection with a fake residence certificate racket that was exposed following a complaint lodged by the Civil Registrar of Salcete, Suraj R Vernekar.
The Salcete Sub Registrar, Suraj R. Vernekar, filed a complaint that prompted the police action. In it, he claimed that the accused, Saddamhusen Shahajan Kamate, a resident of Fatorda-Salcete, and Bhosale Ranjeet Rajkumar, a resident of Warkhandem-Ponda, along with others, had conspiratorially forged the residence certificate with certificate number REV052384308-64049.
The police have further claimed that the forged certificate was used to upload a legitimate document from the accused number two’s office that is, from the Common Service Center, Margao—in order to register the accused number one’s marriage and others in the office of the Civil Registrar cum Sub Registrar. Fatorda PSI Amin A Naik is conducting additional research.
The Salcete Sub Registrar filed a complaint with the Fatorda police earlier this month, claiming that his office had discovered fake residence certificates that were being used as real ones for the purpose of registering marriages in the office.
