PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that over 2,000 Goan artisans and tradesmen have registered with the industries department under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
He added that he has directed the officials to start the procedure of training of the applicants from the next week. Sawant chaired a review meeting on the progress of the scheme in Goa today.
Sawant said that the scheme aims to provide end-to- end holistic support to the traditional artisans and craftspeople in scaling up of their conventional products and services.
Under the scheme, persons practicing 18 traditional trades including like pottery, barber, boat maker, carpenter, flower garland-makers, cobblers etc will be issued identity cards, provided upskilling, training , toolkit incentive of upto Rs. 15,000 and Collateral free ‘Enterprise Development Loans’ of upto Rs 3 lakh.
